Towne Green Beautifies Annapolis for Earth Day

Our Volunteers: Sarah Altman, Abby Taylor, Nick Chappelear, Kevin Harvey & Barbara Stevens (not pictured)

Towne Park’s environmental council, Towne Green, spent this year’s Earth Day weekend working to ameliorate Annapolis in partnership with GreenScape 2013, a “City of Annapolis and community partnership invested in the beautification, clean-up and planting in public spaces throughout the city.”

We immediately knew the perfect location to improve, so several Towne Green volunteers gathered at Park Annapolis’ Knighton Parking Facility on Saturday morning to beautify the plot outside the garage, which had developed into an eyesore for visitors and the surrounding community.

Several hours and several filled compost bags later, Towne Green gave the plot a much needed makeover, displaying their service excellence and volunteer spirit while helping to better the community.

Weeds had run rampant throughout the plot outside Knighton Garage.

Our volunteers working hard.  Enough weeds were pulled to fill three large composting bags!

New shrubs and were planted and fresh top soil and mulch were placed to help the new shrubs grow into a well- manicured garden over the summer!
